Sjöstrand Coffee launched in 2012 with a vision of making capsule coffee a daily possibility – without a guilty conscience about the environment. This led us to work with the company that developed the world’s first biodegradable capsule.
There are many aspects to sustainability, one of which is that we discard products after a short time, simply because they no longer please us. This prompted us to also focus on an enduring design that would stand the test of time. And what could be more timeless than a classic espresso machine in stainless steel?
We are far from perfect, but we are constantly working to improve. At Sjöstrand we offset the carbon from our transport by planting trees. In a further step forward, we are also working on developing a capsule that will break down in a household composter. People are not going to stop consuming, so it is vital to come up with more climate-smart products as a replacement for those that are less good for the environment.
